Saturday Jun 6 @ 01:15pm#213 - “By the Seine” by The Crookes. Okay, so clearly there’s been some recent musical discoveries since I was posting regularly, which is why we’re going back in the alphabet again. I love the clean Brit rock sound these fellahs have crafted. The opening of the song with the plucking and the reverb makes me salivate. I enjoy the singer’s voice and his inflections as he tells this story. I also like the transitions back and forth between the softer and slower verses and the speedy choruses. And that ukulele transition is AWESOME. The build up that comes after that sounds exactly something I would write too. I think these guys have a bright future.
Also, stick around for the end of the song! I mean the eeend of the song. There’s a secret little piano song that’s fun and catchy!
